To fly a microlight in the United Kingdom, an NPPL(M) - National Private Pilot's Licence for Microlights - is required. Briefly speaking, this requires a minimum of 25 hours of flying training, 10 of which need to be flown solo. You will also need to pass ground school exams in the following subjects:
You will also need to pass a General Skills Test, and an Oral Exam.
Whilst this sounds a lot, it is great fun and a hugely rewarding achievement - we guarantee you will never forget your first solo!
All flexwing microlight training and exams can be carried out here at Deenethorpe with Red Kite Airsports, starting on a school aircraft and progressing to your own over time. This helps reduce costs for you and also gives you a chance to get to know your own aircraft from an early stage.
